📋 Description

• Calibrate, install, maintain, and repair protective relays and associated equipment • Maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot complex control systems, protective relay systems, substation and electric utility protection systems, and SCADA systems • Interpret project-level scope of work • Plan commissioning and resource scheduling • Provide team leadership for completing test activities efficiently, on time, without service interruptions, and in accordance with safety protocols • Interpret substation drawings, including single line drawings, AC and DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings • Write procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction activities, including isolation plans and functional guidelines • Test relay voltage and current inputs, metering, relays, trips, alarms, and function switches locally and through SCADA • Lead and perform routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment • Commission new substations, power equipment, relaying, pilot channel equipment, controls, and communications equipment • Provide project technical support to Field Service personnel • Provide technical mentorship to junior-level field service personnel • Serve as a protective relaying subject matter expert in the field • Serve as technical lead for small project teams

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes • Experience desirable in substation design, substation construction, substation commissioning, and SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing • Knowledge of 3 phase power systems • Knowledge of power system protection and control schemes • Knowledge of test equipment and test equipment software • Test equipment and tool/wiring usage • Ability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams • Basic test skills to perform listed duties • Basic PC skills • Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, tailoring communication for audience and situation • Ability to learn and apply client’s switching procedures and safety measures • Ability to reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications • Ability to perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, and management ability • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) • Valid driver’s license and good driving record • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and writing • Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) preferred, or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military
