📋 Description

• Support the design of complex and large power systems, relay upgrades and modifications, and life-extension projects • Act on behalf of the project owner to bridge knowledge gaps, oversee quality, and provide technical leadership from concept development through detailed design, construction, and commissioning • Perform medium- and low-voltage electrical design for outdoor substations, unit substations, power transformers, protection and control schemes, power monitoring, circuit breaker replacements, relay replacements, and brownfield and greenfield EPC projects • Develop specifications for medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment • Work with CAD staff to develop and update client electrical drawings, including one-lines, wiring diagrams, and schematics • Review field data and perform coordination, short-circuit, and arc-flash studies • Review power-monitoring data and provide customer recommendations • Represent Qualus in sales support and customer site walks • Lead interactions with other functions and locations to determine optimum solutions • Assess project resource needs and coordinate assignments with the project manager • Coordinate project handoffs between sales and operations/engineering • Participate in project kickoff meetings covering scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety requirements • Coordinate departments, suppliers, material, and equipment needs • Ensure timely and accurate engineering project invoicing and required documentation • Support workload planning and organization • Maintain current safety and technical training and follow company, industry, and client safety standards

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related from an ABET accredited institution, preferred with a focus on power systems • PE License Required • 5+ years of design engineering experience on primary power distribution, P&C schemes, and/or electrical equipment • Experience developing relay protective setpoints and settings files • Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, ANSI C57, ANSI C37, NESC, and other applicable codes and standards • 5 years of AutoCAD experience • 5 years using power systems modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, and/or EasyPower • Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical recommendations with customers • Ability to work independently, accurately, and with high attention to detail • Up to 10% travel may be required for training and visiting customer job sites
