📋 Description

• Define the journal’s aims, scope, and formats • Develop a broad, impactful, topical, and cohesive journal • Attract world-leading article submissions through an extensive researcher network • Travel extensively to engage with the research community • Attend conferences and visit research institutes • Recruit and manage in-house editorial team members • Coordinate rigorous submission evaluation to ensure journal quality and value • Develop partnerships with Cell Press editorial teams • Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, and Press teams • Contribute to Cell Press’s overall publishing strategy • Launch and lead a new field-shaping biotechnology journal

🎯 Requirements

• Proven biotechnology research expertise • Broad interest in research across the scope of the journal • Deep network of international researchers within the journal’s scope • Proven ability to engage with and influence researchers • Ability to think conceptually and critically about a wide range of scientific issues • Proven organizational, project management, leadership, and teamwork skills • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Extensive editorial experience is valued • Current academic assignment holders seeking editorial/publishing challenges are encouraged to apply • Cover letter required • Willingness and ability to be based in proximity to one of the employer’s offices is advantageous
