📋 Description

• Build and lead a team of object storage engineers through mentorship, feedback, and clear technical guidance. • Drive key product initiatives from ideation through launch while balancing speed, reliability, and quality. • Partner with Product, Design, and Infra teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions and product roadmaps. • Guide system design decisions and help the team navigate architectural tradeoffs. • Foster ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in engineering practices and team processes. • Break down complex problems into incremental milestones that deliver value quickly and support long-term platform evolution. • Ensure understanding of developer experience and customer impact for team-built features. • Collaborate with product management, customers, and internal teams to align priorities and deliver impactful features and solutions. • Develop engineers and ensure the team ships meaningful improvements quickly.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years as an Engineer shipping products and/or features with downstream impact on the business and product ecosystem. • Ideally, experience building stateful services. • 2+ years of experience managing people and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management. • Strong technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs. • Product-oriented mindset with experience translating business goals and user needs into engineering roadmaps and shipped features. • Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution while maintaining high quality. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and design. • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for team outcomes and long-term system health. • This position is generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship; existing visa transfers may be sponsored at Render's discretion, subject to business authorization. • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
