📋 Description

• Collaborate with structural engineers and interface with engineers from other disciplines • Guide the work of less experienced project team members • Work on engineering projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants • Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design • Prepare and review design calculations • Develop specifications • Support designers with drawing development • Guide others in developing engineering deliverables • Perform structural analysis of safety-related structures under various loading conditions, including seismic and impactive/impulsive loading • Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs • Lead or oversee automation and process-improvement work involving engineering calculations, technical-document summaries, design documentation, and AI-enabled workflows • Review automated outputs and guide appropriate use of AI or agentic AI tools

🎯 Requirements

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program • Mechanical Engineering degree will also be considered • Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA • Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI • Good written and verbal communication skills • U.S. work authorization required; Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. • Ph.D. degree (valued, but not required) • Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures (valued, but not required) • On site construction support experience (valued, but not required) • PE or SE license (valued, but not required) • Willingness or ability to lead others using automation and AI tools • Additional learning such as a minor, certificate, or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued but not required
