📋 Description

• Work in a project team environment with engineers and other designers on high and extra high voltage substation design • Prepare and conduct detailed reviews of substation general arrangements, electrical equipment plans, electrical section views/elevations, detailed bills of material, lightning stroke shielding plans, grounding plans, conduit/electrical connection/grounding details, below-grade conduit/raceway plans, and control building equipment/cable tray/lighting/grounding plans and sections • Technically review project-team comments on vendor design deliverables for specification compliance • Coordinate incorporation of comments and consolidate and resolve project-team comments • Lead field walkdowns and gather data at client facilities • Interface with clients and contractors regarding walkdown issues • Perform constructability walkdowns with clients and contractors • Identify applicable codes and standards and guide their application • Participate in developing enhancements to company standards, processes, and quality systems • Ensure designs conform to codes, standards, and client standards • Guide and mentor designers, drafters, and project stakeholders in design/drafting and client-specific tools • Review and supervise production of design deliverables • Provide technical guidance on calculations and prepare and review calculations independently • Develop cost-effective design approaches • Interface with other disciplines to obtain design inputs and ensure integrated-design adequacy • Implement work-plan requirements within budget and schedule • Guide the project team in attaining budget and schedule • Delegate and monitor assigned staff's technical work • Provide performance feedback as a primary evaluator and participate in performance and personnel issues • Oversee routine day-to-day performance and personnel issues for the assigned group

🎯 Requirements

• An Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience • 15 or more years of substation physical design experience • Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) • Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances • Ability to multi-task from project to project • Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer • Familiarity with Bentley Substation, Inventor SDS, and BlueBeam • Familiar with ground-based Lidar, converting point cloud information to vector • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design • Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position
