• Provide quality control activities, basic report writing, and productivity tracking for certified and non-certified cancer registrars • Ensure abstracting teams meet quality and productivity standards • Ensure data submitted to state registries and NCDB is compliant • Review charts weekly and provide 10% re-abstraction, global quality control reports, and weekly feedback • Document quality control performance and compare results to expectations • Research errors and communicate solutions • Monitor changes from standard setters and communicate them to the team • Escalate unresolvable issues to the Manager • Create plans to address NCDB, State, and Accreditation errors • Develop new QC edit reviews and reports • Serve as primary or alternate contact on a client's Cancer Committee • Train new abstractors and educate CCRS staff with the Manager • Complete basic client, manager, and director report requests • Filter and run electronic reporting to state registries, the Commission on Cancer, and other governing bodies • Navigate Commission on Cancer tools including RCRS and NCDB Benchmark Reporting • Verify and submit weekly productivity and data quality reports to management • Identify reportable and non-reportable cases and complete case-finding functions • Abstract analytic and non-analytic cases according to CoC, SEER, and applicable state registry criteria • Correct edit errors and errors identified during quality review • Re-abstract assigned cases and document errors/issues • Enter complete follow-up information • Meet contract productivity standards • Follow Savista/client HIPAA regulations and compliance policies • Perform other assigned duties
• Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) and active membership in the national and/or local cancer registrar association • Minimum 5 years work experience abstracting CoC/NAACCR/NPCR cases • Ability to work independently and with other team members • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision • Effective communication skills to support supervisors and communicate quality control findings • Ability to multi-task and adjust assignments as priorities change • Must meet deadlines and work with time constraints • Sound judgment based on current CoC, SEER, and NAACCR guidelines and client policies • Knowledge and experience in registry operations, including quality control, accreditation, case submission, and report writing • Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Ability to use various email applications • High-speed DSL and cable internet access and experience with remote access, setup, and troubleshooting technical issues • College degree or degree in allied health field preferred, but not required
