📋 Description

• Provide patient services as part of the virtual behavioral health team using evidence-based medicine • Diagnose and assess mental/behavioral health disorders for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients; formulate differential diagnoses • Demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment in assessment and treatment, following established clinical care guidelines • Collaborate and communicate with therapist team and medical leadership regarding patient treatment plans • Order and interpret diagnostic tests when appropriate • Conduct patient history and initial evaluations of incoming patients • Prescribe medications as allowed by license • Provide medication management and counseling • Educate patients and parents on medication side effects, risks/benefits, proper medication usage, and reasonable outcome expectations • Establish and modify patient treatment plans based on clinical assessment and reassessment with screening tools • Document each patient visit in the electronic medical record • Communicate the plan of care with the behavioral health team and the patient’s primary care physician • Educate patients about their medical care • Update clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, education, and literature review • Provide appropriate referrals when necessary • Provide supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners

🎯 Requirements

• MD/DO with appropriate licensing in states prescribing • Active NY DEA License required • Valid DEA License in states prescribing • Valid Medical License in states prescribing • NY Medicaid Number preferred • Valid Medicaid number in NY • Experience with prior psychopharmacology management • Board eligible or board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry • Experience working specifically with children and adolescents • Strong organizational and time management skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to screen for danger to self or others • Demonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct • Ability to collaborate and work with a team
