• Analyze complex or technically difficult medical malpractice claims • Provide resolution of highly complex and/or severe injury claims • Proactively and strategically manage a complex claim inventory • Assess complex claims issues and utilize jurisdictional expertise to provide oversight • Direct claim handling to achieve the best possible resolution • Act as the organizational subject matter expert for complex claim issues • Evaluate exposure using knowledge of all aspects of claims handling • Recommend and direct action plans for issue or case resolution • Articulate and document clear and concise file notes • Facilitate roundtables with groups and teams • Engage appropriate internal and external resources as needed • Provide technical leadership and maintain co-ownership of complex claim issues • Support the organization's quality programs • Perform other duties as assigned
• 8 years of claims management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience • 3 to 5 years of experience handling complex claims • Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or higher-value complex claims • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Licenses as required • Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred • Computer keyboarding ability • Hearing, vision, and talking ability • Clear and conceptual thinking ability • Excellent judgment and discretion • Ability to meet deadlines
