• Inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages • Review documents to determine when cargo was damaged • Provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with a qualified opinion on the cause of loss • Oversee loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages • Inspect damaged ships to determine the cause and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures • Perform other duties as assigned • Support the organization's quality programs • Travel as required
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Good oral and written communication skills • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products • Good customer service skills • Good organizational skills • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time • Must be able to kneel, squat or bend • Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions • Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and work overhead • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day • Must have continual use of manual dexterity • Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in accordance with applicable fair-chance laws
