• Inspect damaged cargo to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages • Review documents to determine when cargo was damaged • Provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with a qualified opinion on the cause of loss • Oversee loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other transit to document damages • Inspect damaged ships to determine the cause and amount of damage from collisions or motor failures • Receive and review new claims • Maintain data integrity in the claims system • Support the organization’s quality programs • Travel as required • Perform other assigned duties
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Valid driver's license and current insurance coverage required • Motor vehicle record meeting Property requirements • Six (6) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Good oral and written communication skills • PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products • Good customer service skills • Good organizational skills • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach/work overhead, lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day • Ability to work in wet and/or humid conditions, high/precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, and moderately noisy environments • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals • Close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; good depth perception; ability to adjust focus • Ability to work in all elements and weather conditions
