📋 Description

• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Operations teams to design and launch new products. • Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical solutions. • Advise on securities, AML/ATF, payments, consumer protection, and other regulatory matters. • Lead regulatory initiatives, including examinations, audits, licensing, policies, and engagement with regulatory authorities. • Provide practical advice to executives and help teams navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions. • Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and scalable processes to improve legal work. • Support commercial agreements, corporate governance, employment matters, and strategic projects.

🎯 Requirements

• Canadian-qualified lawyer with 5+ years of in-house experience, ideally in fintech, payments, financial services, crypto, or a fast-growing technology company. • Able to work autonomously within a small team, make decisions with incomplete information, and move work forward without excessive supervision. • Business-oriented legal judgment. • Comfortable advising Product and Operations teams directly on ambiguous matters. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex legal issues into clear, practical advice. • Fluency in English required. • Bonus points: experience in both a law firm and an in-house legal team; experience in a startup or high-growth environment; familiarity with Bitcoin, crypto, securities, payments, AML, or regulated financial products in Canada; experience with AI, automation, or lightweight tools.
