📋 Description

• Build strong, high-functioning Chapters and support Chapter growth and volunteer leadership • Develop local governance and management practices with Chapter staff • Coordinate Chapter strategic planning toward Sierra Club's 2030 goals • Coordinate with Sierra Club staff across Chapter geographies and regions on growth, governance, support, alignment, and best practices • Manage, coach, and lead Chapter Directors and other assigned Chapter staff • Coordinate state and regional planning to develop, execute, and evaluate integrated plans and measurable outcomes • Partner with the Program Department and Federal team on national campaign outcomes and campaign strategy • Support Chapters in strategizing, meeting outcomes, and budgeting toward priorities • Identify Chapter campaign and capacity needs and coordinate state-based resourcing • Facilitate power building, recruitment, mobilization, and collaboration • Conduct Chapter health evaluations, document and analyze findings, identify problems, and determine solutions • Represent Sierra Club in regional coalitions, events, and public engagements • Help navigate disagreements with internal and strategic partners • Engage decision-makers on behalf of Sierra Club • Cultivate regional donors and contribute to grant proposals • Prepare reports and victory storytelling to support regional fundraising • Perform miscellaneous duties and special projects assigned by Field Department Leadership

🎯 Requirements

• Experience as a senior manager or Director in a grassroots advocacy organization • Strong track record managing and leading staff teams and volunteer leaders toward shared goals and strategies • Leadership development, coaching, feedback, learning, risk-taking, and mutual accountability experience • Understanding of environmental, climate, and social justice issues and their interrelationships • Ability to design and implement strategies and manage leaders toward shared goals and outcomes • Track record leading successful campaigns, delivering impactful victories, and building long-term power • Ability to convene multiple stakeholders and mediate competing priorities • Understanding of systems of oppression and relationship to privilege and power • Experience leading diverse teams and navigating conflict • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport and trust • Experience working effectively with volunteers • Experience working in fast-paced, geographically distributed environments with varied volunteer and staff structures • Experience fundraising and cultivating donor relationships • Experience managing complex teams toward organizational compliance and fiscal responsibility • Experience enforcing and explaining policies and procedures • Experience ensuring funds are used compliantly and responsibly, with tracking • Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required • Strong candidates may bring data analysis and assessment experience for strategic planning • Experience with data management and digital tools • Demonstrated change management experience • Experience leading in membership-based, federated organizations
