📋 Description

• Collaborating with a team of engineers and drafters to support substation engineering design projects • Supporting engineering design and construction for assigned projects • Providing engineering support to project management, procurement and construction on all stages of projects • Developing and maintaining a bill of material • Conducting calculations and creating reports: AC and DC systems, overvoltage protection and coordination, conduit fill, grounding, lightning protection, etc. • Developing control panel layouts and wiring diagrams; Selecting protective devices and ratings • Reviewing and coordinating substation physical drawings and calculations including general arrangements, clearances, details, conduit, grounding, lightning protection, etc. • Coordinating design with clients, vendors and subcontractors, including attendance at meetings • Assuring that all engineering documents and records are properly maintained.

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ Years’ Experience in Design of Transmission Level Substations (13.8kV – 500 kV) including: • Transmission Line Protection • Substation Protection and Control Systems • Generator, Transformer and Bus Protection Schemes • Development of station/substation single-line, protection, control and SCADA diagrams including utility and ISO interconnection and operational requirements • Equipment specifications, designs and layouts including major equipment and protection, control, SCADA, and low-voltage auxiliary systems • Capacitor Banks and Distribution Feeder Protection • Demonstrated experience at all interfaces of transmission level projects • Experience with SEL, GE, etc. relays. • Codes and Standards: NEC, NFPA, NESC, OSHA, NERC, RUS, IEEE, ANSI, IEC, Local and Federal Building Codes • Familiarity with, and review of, substation physical drawings and calculations including general arrangements, clearances, details, conduit, grounding, lightning protection, etc. • Highly motivated and able to execute tasks provided adequate supervision. • Good written and verbal communications skills. • Ability to work well with others in a team setting. • Skilled in engineering theories and principles. • Skilled in practice of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations. • Skilled in problem solving in time-sensitive situations.
