📋 Description

• Provide timely legal advice and counsel on recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations matters • Translate complex legal requirements into actionable guidance for People Team professionals, managers, and business leaders • Build relationships with internal stakeholders and understand Skillsoft’s workforce, priorities, and operating model • Draft, review, and update employment-related documents, agreements, policies, handbooks, notices, investigation materials, and workforce transition materials • Review employment communications for legal risk, clarity, consistency, and alignment with company practices • Develop templates, playbooks, checklists, and self-service resources for employment matters • Review employment policies and practices for compliance gaps and standardization opportunities • Provide employment law counseling across Skillsoft’s jurisdictions and coordinate with local counsel • Monitor global labor and employment law developments and advise on required changes • Develop tools to identify, prioritize, and manage employment-related legal and compliance risk • Advise on and conduct workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misconduct, conflicts of interest, policy violations, and other sensitive matters • Define investigation plans, privilege structures, interim measures, documentation, findings, remediation, and follow-up with the People Team • Recommend corrective action, remediation, process improvements, and retaliation monitoring • Manage employment litigation, administrative charges, labor proceedings, pre-litigation disputes, demand letters, and settlement negotiations in the United States and internationally • Develop case strategy with internal stakeholders and external counsel • Engage and supervise external counsel • Support Skillsoft’s enterprise compliance program, including ERM, ESG, and regulatory compliance • Maintain compliance policies, controls, and documentation supporting ERM and Audit Committee oversight • Partner with Legal Operations to reduce key-person dependency across compliance readiness

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience as a corporate attorney • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school • Active membership in the bar association • Strong knowledge of United States employment law • Experience with global or multi-jurisdictional employment and regulatory matters • Experience managing local counsel • Experience with workplace investigations, employee relations, employment disputes, administrative proceedings, and employment litigation • Strong drafting and review experience involving employment agreements, separation documents, policies, handbooks, investigation materials, and other employment-related documents • Experience supporting corporate compliance programs, including policy governance, risk assessments, compliance training, internal controls, investigations, and regulatory compliance initiatives • Familiarity with enterprise risk management (ERM), ESG-related compliance, audit and compliance governance, and scalable compliance frameworks • Ability to identify legal and regulatory risks and develop practical compliance solutions • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple matters • Ability to take initiative and develop practical, scalable, productive business-support solutions • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and collaborative approach • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
