📋 Description
• Set strategic direction for the Journal • Grow submissions and attract qualified authors and reviewers • Coordinate with SAF’s leaders and stakeholders • Respond to in-process manuscripts and oversee the review process • Evaluate and issue final editorial decisions • Report opportunities for special supplement sales and sponsorships • Attend and lead annual meetings at SAF’s national convention
🎯 Requirements
• Active membership in the Society of American Foresters • US residency required • Significant record of authorship of scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals • Experience as a reviewer, editor, publication manager, and/or science communicator • Preference for candidates with previous experience as associate editors or editor in forestry journals • Graduate degree (preferably a PhD) in forestry or related field • Broad-based understanding of forestry and related natural resources • Established network in academia, industry, and federal agencies • Proficiency in cloud-based computing, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based software • Knowledge of manuscript and peer review management system
