📋 Description

• Provide step-by-step instruction on pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policy • Facilitate training sessions on DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and company safety policies • Mentor, coach, and develop professional drivers • Demonstrate leadership presence during training to reinforce safety and compliance expectations • Ensure West and Central field operations comply with DOT and FMCSA requirements • Manage and maintain Driver Qualification Files, including conducting or coordinating required road tests for new hires • Conduct internal audits and support corrective action planning • Assist with DOT audits by preparing documentation and supporting the DOT Manager • Use ELD platforms and safety management systems to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvements • Travel 70–80% of the time to job sites, yards, and field locations across the West and Central regions • Collaborate with the DOT compliance team on training and compliance initiatives • Investigate incidents, analyze trends, and advise or collaborate on corrective actions with the DOT Manager • Serve as a safety resource for drivers • Promote defensive driving techniques and safe vehicle operation • Reinforce safety expectations across field teams • Build positive working relationships with field teams to support safety, professionalism, and accountability

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in field training, commercial transportation, fleet safety compliance, or related field required • 2+ years of experience in DOT training, safety instruction, or compliance oversight required • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Public Safety, or Logistics preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work • Law enforcement or military experience may be considered • Experience as a State Trooper, Highway Patrol Officer, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer, or DOT Inspector highly desirable • CVSA North American Standard Level 1 Certification (Part A and B) required or ability to obtain • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of applications • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future • Comprehensive knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations • Knowledge of maintaining proper documentation required by federal DOT law and company policies • Understanding of ELD platforms and safety management systems
