📋 Description

• Evaluate and/or provide technical assistance for large-scale educational improvement efforts • Support professional learning programs and development of resources for foundational skills, reading comprehension, multilingual learners, writing from source material, and disciplinary literacy • Provide ELA/literacy expertise through consultation and targeted contributions • Support literacy assessment, measurement of literacy-focused instructional practice, ELA curricular material review, and synthesis of current literacy research • Manage large tasks on complex projects, including survey collection and analysis and training and leading classroom observation teams • Assist with budgeting and project management activities • Communicate data and findings to technical and non-technical audiences • Contribute to or lead proposal writing and generate innovative literacy education proposal ideas • Mentor and support colleagues’ professional growth • Engage in project-embedded mentorship and professional development

🎯 Requirements

• Cover letter is required, including interest in the position and training and experience in ELA/literacy • PhD in education or social sciences discipline OR a similar master’s degree and 5 years’ experience conducting research and/or providing technical assistance • Demonstrated expertise in ELA/literacy through coursework, prior work experience, and/or a dissertation or publications • Experience with multiple research and/or technical assistance methods • Strong preference for experience in K-12 school settings • Capacity to support and lead multiple projects simultaneously and adapt as priorities shift • Strong organizational skills and relational practices • Experience generating clear, concise verbal and written communications for broad audiences • Willingness to travel 5-6 times per year for school site visits, with many visits lasting 3-4 days • U.S. citizenship required due to contract requirements • Desired: K-12 teaching experience in the US public education system, especially in historically underserved communities • Desired: expertise in systems change at school, district, or state levels • Desired: multilingual and multicultural experiences • Desired: expertise in foundational literacy, reading comprehension, classroom instructional practice, ELA/literacy curriculum, measuring instructional quality, K-12 teacher professional learning, literacy assessment, intervention or multi-tiered systems of support, instructional leadership, culturally sustaining practices, multilingual learners, or AI in writing instruction or assessment
