📋 Description

• Own the technical vision and architecture of Stord's AI platform • Drive technical strategy with engineering and product leadership • Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, tools, and architectural patterns • Establish technical quality standards through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural guidance • Participate in design reviews, go/no-go releases, sprint planning, and cross-team syncs • Design and build agent orchestration, tool systems, prompt management, and integration APIs • Develop TypeScript services using Hono, Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, D1/Drizzle, and Anthropic Claude AI SDK • Build scope-aware tool systems for orders, inventory, and knowledge-base capabilities • Design fault-tolerant integrations with Elixir/Phoenix APIs and ensure graceful degradation • Integrate ML model outputs through API layers • Mentor engineers and grow senior engineers into autonomous technical decision-makers • Teach effective AI coding-tool practices and directed agentic development • Create reusable abstractions, architectural documentation, and developer tooling • Identify technical risks and opportunities proactively • Partner with Product Management on the AI roadmap • Align AI platform architecture with broader engineering strategy • Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers on model requirements and integration boundaries • Support product engineering teams adopting AI capabilities • Report to the Sr Engineering Manager of the AI team

🎯 Requirements

• TypeScript (3+ years in production) • Experience designing stateful systems at the edge; Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, or similar edge runtime experience strongly preferred • Built and shipped agentic or LLM-powered features in production • Understanding of prompt engineering, tool/function calling, context management, and AI system reliability • Experience consuming from or integrating with event streaming systems; Redpanda preferred, Kafka acceptable • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and event-driven architectures • Strong SQL fundamentals • Experience with D1, SQLite, or PostgreSQL • Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, GCP, or AWS • Understanding of serverless and edge deployment models • Experience instrumenting production systems with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar • Ability to form, defend, and communicate technical opinions • Ability to mentor and elevate engineers • Ability to use and teach directed AI-assisted development practices • Nice-to-have: Elixir/Phoenix, Cloudflare developer platform, Anthropic Claude, AI SDK, MCP, logistics/e-commerce/supply chain knowledge, open-source contributions, WebSocket systems, scope-based authorization, and multi-tenant systems
