• Deliver specific high school Social Studies course content in an online environment • Provide live, synchronous instruction, support, and guidance • Manage the learning process and address students’ individual needs • Apply knowledge of the K12 curriculum, Online School, state standards, and industry-specific learning standards • Develop instructional lessons aligned with the school’s pacing schedule • Develop instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance the curriculum • Contact students regularly via email or phone • Respond to student and associated school inquiries, usually within one business day • Participate in academic-focused meetings with associated school administrators • Attend regularly scheduled virtual staff meetings • Establish and maintain positive rapport with students • Monitor and report on student academic and pacing progress • Generate formal reports and alert administrators about student progress and attendance concerns • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families • Create a monthly newsletter or update the website as needed • Lead student and parent orientations as needed • Assess students according to policy • Travel occasionally to school functions, including state testing, as required
• Appropriate state Department of Education High School (9-12) Social Studies Teaching Certification required • Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year industry experience leading to certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Appropriate subject teaching certification • Willingness and ability to obtain additional state licensing as required • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge • Ability to support and guide adults as well as students • Excellent knowledge of motivational techniques • Excellent organizational, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Microsoft Office and web proficiency • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time • Ability to pass required background check • Residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. • High-speed internet connection: minimum 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload; satellite, DSL, data plans, wireless, and dial-up services are not compatible • Ability to work typically 20–25 hours per week, with possible fewer or additional hours based on business needs • Ability to work during daytime business hours, 8am–5pm ET, Monday–Friday, as required
