• Deliver specific course content in an online environment • Provide instruction, support, and guidance focused on students’ individual IEP needs • Manage the learning process and work actively with students and parents • Ensure special education and related services are provided according to IEP team determinations • Communicate with parents and related service staff regarding appropriate therapies • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required state special education documentation • Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings • Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text • Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by IEPs • Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education classroom • Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals • Document parent contact and student interventions • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment • Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences • Maintain the grade book and support academic integrity • Make student placement and promotion decisions and alert administrators to performance concerns • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests • Maintain positive rapport with families and communicate with students and parents in a timely manner • Support learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting • Travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or school requirements
• Bachelor’s degree • Active state Special Education teaching license • Six months of student teaching experience • Ability to clear required background checks • If certification is from another state, obtain West Virginia reciprocity within 60 days of employment • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distractions during the workday • Ability to work the school’s defined schedule, typically 9–5 or 8–4 • Ability to travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or school requirements • Experience with the proposed age group desired • Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment desired • Experience with online learning platforms desired • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint desired • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms desired
