📋 Description

• Implement an organizing plan for Massachusetts coalition members, alumni, fellows, and partners in Massachusetts and the New England region • Support campaign strategies for legislative policy and budgetary priorities • Organize and coordinate responses to unexpected policy challenges • Engage local, state, and federal elected officials regarding legislative priorities, including organizing meetings with state administration members • Assist with policy development and preparation for legislator meetings • Coordinate and attend meetings with executive, legislative, municipal, business, and community leaders • Track and execute meeting follow-up items • Manage engagement and tracking information systems, including maintaining relationship data in Salesforce • Draft internal and external policy memos, social media messages, emails, advocacy documents, and presentations • Edit and translate advocacy and strategic documents and presentations • Research, summarize, and track legislation and topics relevant to policy goals • Track and attend high-priority advocacy events, including legislative committee hearings, board meetings, and coalition meetings • Support special projects and initiatives through research, coordination, and execution • Maintain organized files, records, meeting materials, and operational documentation • Provide strategic and logistical support for team meetings, stakeholder events, and organizational events • Travel within Massachusetts for events, meetings, and convenings approximately twice per month • Attend at least one all-organization event per year • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven team culture

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience • Educational and/or career path aligned with the role’s focus areas • Knowledge of the Massachusetts education policy ecosystem • Highly organized with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment • Ability to adapt to shifting legislative and advocacy priorities • Ability to deliver high-quality work within timelines and constraints • Ability to track milestones, communicate status, dependencies, and blockers • Responsible use of AI tools to organize, track, and communicate project progress • Project management skills, including managing multiple projects, tracking milestones, and surfacing risks • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Proficiency in MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Zoom • Intermediate proficiency with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude • Some experience working with the Massachusetts legislature preferred • Relationships with key education nonprofits and policymakers in Massachusetts preferred • Event management experience preferred • Proficiency in Monday.com or equivalent project management software preferred • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM platform preferred
