• Perform field testing, observation, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel, and other construction materials • Communicate construction site, project, testing, observation, and inspection information to project managers, engineering technicians, clients, and contractors • Transport material samples and identifying documentation to laboratories for further testing and analysis • Prepare and submit written and digital reports and daily data transmittals to the Terracon Project Manager • Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, work areas, and equipment calibration • Perform advanced fieldwork and assist with project management • Train lower-level technicians and potentially direct or supervise other engineering technicians • Assist with developing testing and inspection service scopes • Plan, schedule, and dispatch technicians to project sites • Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with project, department, and office managers • Track contractor site data and project status in CMELMS • Communicate project timelines, client needs, and project status to clients • Follow safety and quality standards across all projects
• High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience or equivalent training and related experience • Experience using laptop computers and Microsoft Word and Excel • Willingness to travel up to 100% and for extended periods without the ability to travel home • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, and extended shifts • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required • ACI certification in one or more of the following: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I; Concrete Strength Testing Technician • Certification in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or ASNT Level II for structural steel and/or nondestructive testing services • Relevant certification for facilities services or project requirements, such as Registered Roofing Observer (RRO) • Ability to perform field testing, observation, inspection, laboratory testing, data analysis, documentation, and equipment calibration • Ability to follow safety rules, perform pre-task planning, identify hazards, and mitigate risk • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and exercise sound judgment • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and geographic locations • Ability to adapt to changing project environments and jobsite conditions • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
