📋 Description

• Manage comprehensive sleep disorders and related medical conditions causing or contributing to sleep disorders • Perform direct patient care as requested by VHA • Provide synchronous care in clinics and asynchronous care, including sleep study interpretation, electronic consultations, and remote therapeutic monitoring • Complete new patient visits within 60 minutes and follow-up visits within 30 minutes • Complete mandatory setting-specific suicide screening for new patients • Complete sleepiness and insomnia questionnaires where relevant • Evaluate patients and perform physical examinations as necessary • Order appropriate testing and facilitate order completion • Monitor test status and completion, review results, and discuss management plans with patients • Document all patient interactions in the electronic health record and type own notes • Complete EHR entries within the VA facility-mandated timeframe, typically within 24 hours • Communicate with Veterans’ providers regarding sleep testing, follow-up, and management • Function within a multidisciplinary and interprofessional sleep team • Document and communicate ordered test results to patients and providers within 14 days of availability or sooner if clinically indicated • Track completion of ordered tests and respond to scheduler inquiries and order modification requests • Maintain board certification, meet CME requirements, and practice within scope of privileges • Work Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–6:00 pm, with occasional weekends; appointment times may vary based on Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System needs

🎯 Requirements

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship • Graduate of an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia • Basic Life Support (BLS) • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties • Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and California state licenses preferred • Previous experience with the VA is a plus • Completion of credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes if selected
