📋 Description

• Build new features and maintain the Android application for rugged Zebra handheld devices • Work within an existing multi-module Android codebase alongside experienced developers • Write Kotlin and Jetpack Compose code interacting with RFID, barcode, and sensor data • Implement offline data handling, local caching, and secure storage • Collaborate with backend teams to support application syncing and a consistent user experience • Assist with testing, debugging, and troubleshooting device issues, including field issues • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions • Improve code quality and application reliability • Apply Android development, secure development, and application architecture best practices • Build tools used by warfighters and logisticians for operational asset tracking

🎯 Requirements

• 0–2 years of professional Android development experience, or equivalent experience through internships, coursework, personal projects, or other software development work • Familiarity with Kotlin and modern Android application development • Experience with or interest in learning Jetpack Compose • Basic understanding of Kotlin coroutines and Flow • Familiarity with Android architecture concepts, dependency injection, and local data storage • Interest in hardware integrations such as RFID readers, barcode scanners, sensors, or peripheral devices • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to debug, ask questions, and learn unfamiliar technologies • Familiarity with unit, UI, or instrumentation testing • Willingness to learn cybersecurity, application hardening, and DoD deployment requirements • U.S. Citizenship required • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance • Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance • Familiarity with Git, branches, commits, pull requests, collaborative code reviews, and merge conflicts • Ability to write clear commit messages and follow source-control practices • Willingness to learn CI/CD and release processes • Bonus: exposure to Dagger Hilt, Room, multi-module Android projects, MDM platforms, Zebra devices or SDKs, RFID/barcode workflows, automated testing, cybersecurity, RMF/ATO, application hardening, or IL4/IL5 environments
