Texas Windstorm Insurance Association is a not-for-profit insurer that provides windstorm and hail insurance coverage to residential and commercial property owners along the Texas coast who are unable to obtain such coverage in the regular market due to the risk of catastrophic hurricanes. Established under Texas law, TWIA functions as the insurer of last resort, offering policy issuance, claims handling, payments, agent services, and public governance via a board of directors and statutory oversight.

📋 Description

• Lead the investigation and resolution of complex commercial property claims • Demonstrate a customer-centric attitude • Analyze and manage claims by verifying coverage, investigating, and gathering pertinent information to determine claim exposure • Maintain action plans for appropriate and timely resolution in accordance with established policies and procedures • Identify and address coverage issues, potential fraud, and subrogation potential • Calculate and assign timely and appropriate claim reserves and monitor reserve adequacy • Conduct detailed damage and bill reviews and control claim expenses • Pay and process claims within designated authority levels or deny payments where no coverage, liability, or compensability exists • Enter claim payments and reserves in the computer system with concise and accurate file documentation • Communicate decisions clearly and professionally • May provide training, coordination, and investigation of potential fraudulent activity for the Association

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years of relevant work experience • Texas Adjuster License • Must obtain the Associate in Claims designation within two years of the date of hire/promotion, or the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation within three years of the date of hire • Ability to sit, hear, converse over the telephone, and key frequently on a computer for long periods of time • May require extended hours, overnight travel, and remote work outside the office during catastrophic storm events • Preferred: Bilingual, preferably Spanish and/or Asian Languages such as Mandarin or Vietnamese • Preferred: Building contractor, roofing contractor, or restoration contractor background • Preferred: Residential/Commercial Property estimating software experience
