• Set up new workers’ compensation claims in system and paper files, ensuring documentation is present and correct • Prepare, schedule, and process benefit and medical payments as directed by the Claims Examiner • Document work products and claim activity in the electronic claim file • Prepare and print letters, benefit notices, and labels • Provide clerical support including filing, faxing, sorting, photocopying, and alphabetizing • Communicate pertinent claim information to clients, legal counsel, medical and rehabilitation providers, and internal claims staff • Answer phone calls, take messages, and respond appropriately • Operate computers, telephones, 10-key devices, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment • Perform other duties as assigned
• High school diploma or GED • One (1) year of experience in the workers’ compensation claims industry (preferred) • Proficient keyboarding skills (type 45 wpm) • Working knowledge of medical/legal terminology • Ability to alphabetize and collate • Proficient in Word • Ability to follow written and spoken instructions from several individuals • Ability to produce accurate and detailed work • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Courteous telephone skills • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and due dates • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with a workgroup • Ability to perform sedentary/light physical work and required activities including stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions
