📋 Description

• Oversee the monthly close from beginning to end for a portfolio of growing small business clients • Serve as the trusted client point of contact and own client relationships • Create and document workflows for Accounting Specialists • Train Accounting Specialists on close processes • Delegate recurring bookkeeping and reconciliation work • Complete work that cannot be delegated • Review bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and completeness • Deliver clean, client-ready financial statements • Answer client questions and understand clients’ businesses and goals • Maintain clear communication, strong follow-through, and reliable delivery • Keep work on track, within scope, and within time budgets • Collaborate with a Controller on escalations, judgment calls, quality standards, onboarding, messy clients, and scope or pricing resets • Build an efficient client portfolio and manage multiple clients • Improve processes and reduce rework over time

🎯 Requirements

• Must be able to work during regular US business hours • Comfortable working with multiple construction clients • Familiarity with the construction/real estate industry and related accounting processes • At least 5 years of small business accounting experience • Experience with accrual adjusting entries • Experience with fixed assets and debt schedules • Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements • Experience running payroll, including creating clear agreements, documenting processes, and meeting deadlines • Experience paying bills using Bill.com or other bill pay platforms • Strong computer and spreadsheet skills, especially Google Sheets • Experience with accounting software • Ability to self-teach and develop proficiency with various technology and software • Comfortable delegating and overseeing routine work • Ability to investigate business processes, troubleshoot problems, provide training, and document clear instructions • Clear client communication and ability to keep agreements • Ability to delegate first and build consistent processes • Comfortable tracking time and managing to time budgets • Strong review skills with attention to accuracy and completeness within scope • Ability to reduce rework and improve efficiency over time
