📋 Description

• Oversee the monthly close from beginning to end for a portfolio of growing small business clients • Serve as the trusted point of contact for financial results and clarity • Delegate recurring bookkeeping and reconciliations to Accounting Specialists • Create and document close workflows • Train Accounting Specialists on processes • Ensure delegated work is completed efficiently and on time • Complete non-delegable accounting work • Review bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and completeness • Deliver clean, client-ready financial statements • Answer client questions and understand their businesses and goals • Maintain clear communication, responsiveness, and follow-through • Keep engagements on track, within scope, and within time budgets • Collaborate with the Controller on escalations, judgment calls, onboarding, messy clients, scope, and pricing resets

🎯 Requirements

• At least 5 years of small business accounting experience • Prepared accrual adjusting entries • Built and maintained fixed asset and debt schedules • Prepared and reviewed complete financial statements • Owned month-end close from start to finish for more than one client business at the same time • Clear client communication and reliable follow-through • Ability to design delegation frameworks and build workflows for bookkeepers • Ability to train bookkeepers and maintain quality standards • Ability to track time and manage to time budgets • Strong review skills with attention to accuracy and completeness within scope • Ability to improve processes and reduce rework • Construction or real estate accounting experience preferred • Job costing experience preferred • Strong understanding of WIP preferred • Experience with fixed asset acquisition and disposal preferred • Experience with construction-specific software and accounting software integrations preferred • Real estate accounting experience preferred • Experience managing subcontractors, insurance compliance, vendor documentation, and annual 1099 preparation and reporting preferred • Experience with retainage preferred • Working knowledge of contract revenue recognition, including percentage of completion and completed contract methods, preferred • Sales tax and income tax coordination are bonuses, not required
