📋 Description

• Manage and build a diverse portfolio of $25,000-$100,000+ donors and prospects • Grow sustainable annual revenue from $1 million to $2-3 million • Recruit new major donors through introductions, events, trips, membership donors, and research • Deliver stewardship for portfolio donors • Develop, lead, and execute donor engagement opportunities such as project visits, fishing trips, and dinners • Identify, qualify, and upgrade donors in coordination with operations, development leadership, and major gifts staff • Track performance through metrics and annual revenue goals • Support senior leadership in frontline fundraising • Provide fundraising strategy, talking points, and materials for cultivation and solicitation • Present Trout Unlimited’s mission and value proposition to donors • Guide proposals and reports, including detailed budgets with communications, program, and finance colleagues • Identify planned giving prospects and implement current and deferred giving strategies, including endowment growth • Maintain knowledge of fundraising best practices and relevant federal and state tax-law changes • Collaborate across program, development, and operations teams on revenue transparency and accountability • Assist with events, board meetings, and other development priorities • Maintain accurate donor records • Travel approximately 2-3 nights per month • Report to the Senior Director of Principal and Major Gifts

🎯 Requirements

• At least four (4) years of professional experience in nonprofit individual major gifts fundraising (or equivalent related experience) • Experience managing 80 or more donors at once • Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding six- and seven-figure gifts • Skills developing donor cultivation and solicitation strategies • Experience or exposure to planned giving and endowment campaigns • Successful track record working remotely with colleagues dispersed across the nation • Commitment to Trout Unlimited’s mission and values; passion for angling preferred • Outstanding interpersonal skills and comfort with direct donor interaction, including sensitive discussions about personal and family finances • Excellent writing and public speaking skills • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics with multiple stakeholders • Knowledge of and commitment to using fundraising databases, particularly Salesforce and WealthEngine • High discretion and respect for donor privacy • Initiative, independence, and ability to work as part of a team • Bachelor’s degree • Ability and willingness to travel, ideally located near an airport with flights to major western cities • Physical ability to walk on uneven surfaces for multiple hours at conservation and restoration sites • Resume and cover letter required
