📋 Description

• Conduct forensic investigations involving electrical failures, electrical fires, equipment malfunctions, power distribution systems, and damage caused by power surges or lightning • Perform site inspections and gather field data, measurements, photographs, and documentation • Analyze electrical systems, components, and equipment to determine the cause, origin, and extent of failures or damage • Investigate electrical incidents involving residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities • Evaluate compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and industry practices, including the NEC • Apply engineering principles, codes, standards, and best practices to develop defensible conclusions • Prepare clear, concise, technically sound forensic engineering reports • Participate in depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings as an expert witness when required • Communicate findings with clients, attorneys, insurance professionals, contractors, and other stakeholders • Maintain current knowledge of electrical codes, engineering standards, emerging technologies, and forensic investigation methodologies • Perform other project-related consulting services as assigned • Work on project-based assignments as opportunities arise under an independent contractor relationship • Travel requirements vary based on project demand and geographic coverage

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing; multiple state licensure preferred • Prior forensic engineering or forensic electrical consulting experience preferred • Experience conducting fire origin and cause investigations involving electrical systems preferred • Demonstrated experience investigating electrical failures, electrical fires, equipment damage, power quality issues, arc fault events, and related loss causation matters • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) • Experience performing electrical system troubleshooting, testing, or failure analysis • Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently to inspection sites throughout the assigned region • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills • Experience providing litigation support, depositions, or expert testimony preferred • Ability to manage multiple assignments independently and meet project deadlines • Contractor must be responsible for applicable taxes, licensing requirements, insurance, and business expenses • U.S. Persons only due to access to information subject to U.S. export controls under ITAR; eligible U.S. Persons include U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees in the United States
