📋 Description

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle moderate to high complexity claims within CD and E&S • Conduct timely and thorough investigations and verify applicable coverages • Analyze liability and evaluate damages for reserves and settlement • Determine whether to resolve suits before assigning defense counsel • Vet and retain appropriate defense counsel • Collaborate with defense counsel on case strategy and action plans • Actively manage claim files and defense counsel to drive claims toward resolution • Document file activity through detailed file notes and prepare claim reports • Recommend reserves according to timeliness and accuracy guidelines • Develop and execute negotiation strategies • Identify subrogation potential and posture claims for recovery • Identify risk transfer opportunities and exposures • Draft tender letters and place potential parties on notice • Vet, select and retain experts when necessary • Apply expense management initiatives • Notify insureds of key developments and demands; communicate significant exposure changes to agency and underwriting • Review fee statements and negotiate adjustments • Investigate coverage and determine limits and attachment points on excess files • Draft coverage position letters • Apply priority of coverage rules • Escalate requests for monitoring or coverage counsel when needed • Monitor underlying carriers and participate in defense strategy discussions • Inform underwriting of increased hazards or unusual circumstances • Participate in educational programs and claims committees to develop expertise and drive claims initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma • Meet the appropriate state licensing requirements to handle claims • 6+ years (Property/Casualty) claims handling experience • CPCU, AIC, SCLA or Legal Principles, CCLA and PCLA of the AEI series preferred, or to be completed within 2 years of hire • Ability to determine coverage, risk transfer, liability, and bodily injury evaluation for reserves and settlement • Moderate knowledge of claims handling best practices • Moderate knowledge of unfair claims practices/bad faith • Working knowledge of various lines of policy coverages • Continuous knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and venue • Knowledge of fraud indicators • Knowledge surrounding civil procedure • Strong communication skills • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively • Occasional travel may be required
