• Interacts with treatment team members to promote a cohesive and collaborative team culture in which each consumer’s point of view, experiences, and preferences are recognized, understood and respected, and in which client self-determination and decision-making in treatment planning are maximized and supported. • Provides support to team members and clients within the Hoʻola UTelehealth program. • Provides a range of supportive services under the supervision of the Program Manager that include but are not limited to, providing ongoing support, providing screening and gathering information and providing input into the recovery plans, skill building and group activities, coordinating services with ancillary treatment providers, making referrals to additional services and supports when indicated on the consumers’ recovery plan, or Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). • Attends clinical supervision by the Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or Mental Health Professional (MHP) under the supervision of the QMHP at a frequency that follows accreditation, certification, and professional standards, at a minimum of one (1) hour of supervision for each one-hundred sixty (160) hours worked.as Per AMHD requirements. • Clinical supervision with QMHP or MHP includes the following components: is guided by a supervisory plan which identifies the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are the focus for development, establishes a learning alliance between the supervisor and supervisee in which the supervisee learns therapeutic skills while developing self-awareness at the same time, enhances the professional skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to achieving competency in providing quality consumer care, be different from staff development and in-service training, meets requirements for licensing bodies and third party payers, consists of regularly scheduled face-to-face individual meetings, content focus, feedback and evaluation is based on direct observation of work performance, preplanning and preparation are necessary, and supervisee is engaged in a critical analysis of the work s/he did and is planning to do. • Development and application of personalized coping skills which includes sharing common recovery experiences, assisting consumers in identifying their own individual warning signs of relapse and assisting consumers in developing a crisis plan and crisis management skills. • Development of skills for successful community living by helping consumers to develop assertiveness and communication skills. • Teaching skills in daily living, learning, working, socializing, recreation and parenting. • Facilitates or co-facilitates Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Groups, including but not limited to Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Financial Skill Building, Wellness & Healthy Living, for clients, and other assigned agencies, as requested, including coordinating and augmenting the activities of the consumers treatment team. • Teaches and models self-help techniques by convening and facilitating peer support groups that encourage recovery dialogues. • Helps consumers identify, understand and combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and develop strategies to reduce self-stigma. • Meets with individual Case Managers and assists with the development and construction of Individual Recovery Plans. • Crisis outreach as necessary or as directed by Program Manager. • Mentors and assist other Peer Specialists as they move toward becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. • Complies with all legal requirements and company policies. • Performs potentially other additional duties as assigned by Program Manager.
• High school diploma, or high school equivalency • One (1) year of experience providing direct services to individuals with substance use disorder/addiction mental health services or other behavioral health issues, paid or unpaid. • Certification as a Peer Specialist in the State of Hawaii (HCPS) • Demonstrated experience and evidence of substance use disorder/addiction mental health activity in the past two (2) years (i.e. advocacy, volunteer, support group involvement etc.) • Certification as a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Facilitator preferred. Required to be obtained upon hire within six months. • Unexpired valid driver’s license, preferred. • If driving to program or meeting site(s), must have current driver’s license, clear traffic abstract and willingness to use properly insured vehicle. • Current BLS CPR and First Aid certification preferred. • CPI certification or crisis prevention training preferred.
