📋 Description

• Own day-to-day accounting operations across payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end close, and reporting workflows • Lead the close process with a focus on speed, accuracy, reviewability, and repeatability • Maintain financial records for leadership reporting, board reporting, audit readiness, and lender-related data requests • Oversee and develop one direct report in a senior accountant/accounting specialist capacity • Support registrations, compliance-related finance administration, and operational finance needs • Build and improve financial reporting packages • Support variance analysis, fluctuation analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and longer-term planning • Prepare operational finance inputs for board reporting, annual budgeting, sponsor-backed reporting, audit readiness, and valuation-related needs • Partner with the finance leader on lender-facing data preparation • Translate accounting outputs into finance insights • Assess the finance and accounting technology stack and identify automation, upgrade, or replacement opportunities • Improve controller-function capacity through better processes and tools • Automate month-end close, reconciliations, AP workflows, reporting packages, and recurring data pulls • Support future ERP, accounting system, forecasting tool, or finance systems implementation • Integrate accounting operations for a recently acquired business line • Create scalable accounting processes for fixed-price services revenue and related reporting • Support GL alignment, reporting consistency, data cleanup, and operating cadence for acquisitions

🎯 Requirements

• Strong Controller-level experience owning accounting operations in a smaller or mid-sized business • Accountability for the GL, close, reporting accuracy, and accounting process discipline • Meaningful exposure to FP&A, forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting, or board reporting • Experience in a sponsor-backed, PE-backed, VC-backed, or similarly high-accountability environment • Experience with professional services, project-based accounting, fixed-price services revenue, or operationally complex revenue models • Ability to support a mix of services and subscription-style revenue • Acquisition integration experience or strong adjacent experience organizing new entities, business lines, systems, and reporting flows • Comfort working directly with senior finance leadership • Hands-on, fast, precise approach and willingness to improve processes while performing underlying accounting work well • ERP or accounting system implementation, forecasting tool implementation, or finance systems modernization experience preferred • Automation experience across close, reconciliations, AP, reporting, or recurring finance workflows preferred • Experience preparing data for lenders, debt reporting, covenant tracking, or quarterly lender packages preferred • Familiarity with government contracting, federal contractor environments, regulated services businesses, or compliance-heavy operating models preferred • Audit support experience in a sponsor-backed or acquisition-oriented environment preferred
