• building and executing a comprehensive major gifts fundraising strategy within an assigned multi-state geographic region • identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-capacity donors and family foundations • managing a portfolio of 75 donors while leveraging wealth analytics to identify and qualify new prospects • cultivating new connections and expanding the organization's reach among high-net-worth philanthropists • maintaining an active schedule of moves management to prospect, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors • interfacing with members of the Prospect Development team to request prospect research or customized prospect lists • collaborating with other members of the nationwide Major Gifts team to brainstorm donor strategies • creating compelling major and principal gift proposals and completing grant applications as needed • identifying Planned Giving prospects and coordinating strategy and approach with the USOs Planned Giving team • partnering with USO Area Directors and center operations staff within the region to align messaging • preparing and presenting oral and written reports • other duties as assigned
• Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field • Masters degree preferred • 5+ years work experience in individual, foundation, and corporate giving/sponsorship development role • at least 2 years of experience as a frontline fundraiser managing a portfolio of individual donors • track record of directly soliciting and securing gifts of $25,000+ • relevant experience in a national or global organization preferred • experience with six-figure solicitations a plus • demonstrated ability to be strategic, self-directed and proactive in engaging new major gift prospects • excellent interpersonal and presentation skills • ability to deliver compelling call-to-action cases to internal and external stakeholders • solid knowledge of IRS guidelines for charitable contributions and Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability • ability to work collaboratively as a team player • strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills • ability to effectively interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences • demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects • ability to manage a high volume of assignments with varying complexity and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment • proficiency using computers and electronic equipment • working knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Raisers Edge or other comparable donor database software • ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid drivers license • must be a strong advocate of the USOs mission.
