• Implement, document, and maintain internal controls to safeguard enterprise assets • Improve close and reporting processes for timely and accurate reporting • Ensure accounting complies with GAAP, including evaluation of stipends, patient accounts receivable, payroll, liabilities, and ownership equity • Generate GAAP-basis entity financial statements and departmental and practice income statements and balance sheets • Convert GAAP-basis medical group statements to cash basis for distributions and tax return preparation • Present financial information to the CFO, finance leaders, audit committee, board of directors, and C-suite • Determine cash- and accrual-basis medical group net income for profit distribution percentages and partner allocations • Monitor financial condition through audits and support external auditors • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends • Maintain supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts and timely reconciliations • Review monthly accounting close and operating results • Review and control expense allocations across entities and departments • Facilitate annual cash-basis financial statement “soft-landing,” profit distribution percentage determination, and qualified earnings analysis • Review and approve qualified earnings calculations based on partnership agreements and board policy • Review corporate and partnership tax returns prepared by the tax advisor • Develop tax strategy with the tax advisor and present it to the CFO annually • Provide information for and understand composite partnership tax filings • Review state and local tax matters and develop state-specific tax strategies with the tax advisor • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements • Review financial information needed for corporate and partnership tax returns • Review internally generated corporate and partnership tax returns • Review and approve annual tax-return engagement letters • Assure timely and accurate compliant payroll for partners, advance providers, onsite employees, and office employees • Approve payroll policies and procedures • Recommend annual insurance strategy for cyber, workers’ compensation, general liability, malpractice, and EPL • Evaluate potential liabilities and ensure appropriate reserves are reported • Perform high-level analytical review of gross-to-net payroll • Reconcile practice billing fees and malpractice charges to payments made to billing agents and insurers • Review and approve master lease files and self-insurance workers’ compensation allocations • Align accounting and payroll department goals with the enterprise strategic plan • Mentor, guide, and develop staff and evaluate performance and career tracks • Approve hiring and terminations for the department • Present salary increase cases to the C-suite • Review and approve staff compensation policies and procedures • Determine vision and direction for accounting and payroll resource allocation
• 15+ years of related accounting experience required • 5+ years of financial accounting management experience required • 5+ years of healthcare experience required • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, accounting, economics or a related area required • CPA or CMA required • Knowledge of US GAAP • Knowledge of US tax code related to partnership and corporate tax • Knowledge of US auditing standards • Knowledge of Vituity policies and procedures and regulatory requirements relating to general compensation • Knowledge of concepts, standards, and methods for auditing compliance • Ability to express ideas and convey information effectively in verbal and written communications • Ability to keep abreast of new/current laws, regulations and common/emerging practices • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to varying groups and sizes • Ability to maintain flexibility, cooperation and participate in cross-organizational performance improvement activities • Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English enough to perform the duties of the position • Ability to evaluate and convey information in legible reports to Finance and Executive groups • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and/or statutes • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills • Strong consultation skills and ability to seek out information and provide quality advice • Knowledge of insurance: workers’ compensation, cyber, malpractice, general liability • Completing cash- and accrual-basis financial statements for partnerships preferred • Solid understanding of US tax code preferred • Big 4 or mid-level accounting experience preferred • MBA preferred
