📋 Description

• Act as the primary tax liaison for business initiatives, surfacing tax implications during contract negotiations, site selection, and operational changes • Translate complex tax regulations into actionable guidance for non-tax stakeholders • Evaluate state and local data center tax incentive opportunities, exemption programs, and statutory tax credits • Execute incentive applications, tax filings, and sales/use tax exemption registrations for standard statutory jurisdictions • Manage external tax advisors, legal counsel, and economic development consultants on complex incentive negotiations and site selection engagements • Model tax savings, capital expenditure thresholds, and ROI for site selection trade-offs with Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Legal teams • Manage compliance for secured incentives, tracking data center CapEx, power utilization, and job creation commitments to prevent clawbacks • Maintain internal controls and reconciliations to ensure tax-process data integrity and support recurring audits • Administer sales and use tax exemption certificates and direct-pay permits for qualifying server, storage, GPU, cooling, and power equipment purchases • Monitor legislative developments, state statutory data center incentive changes, and green energy tax trends; inform the Global Tax Director of risks and opportunities

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in US State & Local Tax (SALT), specializing in location incentives, indirect tax exemptions, or corporate state tax planning • Direct experience with state data center incentive frameworks, sales/use tax equipment exemptions, and property tax abatement • Prior experience working within a State Department of Revenue, State Economic Development Agency, or local taxing authority is preferred • Proven experience managing external service providers, law firms, or accounting consultancy teams • Advanced financial modeling skills and ability to translate complex state tax regulations into financial projections for non-tax stakeholders • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field • CPA or JD preferred • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Ability to travel 10% to 20% of the time as needed
