📋 Description

• Drive the quality of automated customer support through evaluating and improving team-built systems • Bridge research and production by building agent systems that ship into real products • Contribute to autonomous voice and digital agents powering 10M+ customer interactions per month across West Africa • Build solutions for poor connectivity, low literacy and languages with little training data • Experiment with, evaluate and integrate the latest voice and text models • Own problems end-to-end, from discovery through production • Work alongside product and engineering leaders to prioritize real customer impact

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML • Proven hands-on experience building with LLMs or AI systems, including evaluation, RAG, embeddings, safety and guardrails • Strong foundations in statistics and ML theory • Solid Python skills • Track record taking AI/ML systems from prototype to production, with focus on reliability, performance and scalability • Fluency with AI agents • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and designing AI systems end-to-end without detailed specifications • Experience building evaluation frameworks to catch hallucinations and measure groundedness • Ability to balance research intuition with pragmatic engineering and ship working systems • Experience with large datasets, complex pipelines and modern ML infrastructure, including distributed training, feature stores and monitoring • Research background in speech or LLMs is a bonus • Proven Voice AI experience, including ASR, TTS, latency optimization, real-time streaming and voice agents, is a bonus • Experience building customer support or conversational AI systems is a bonus • Familiarity with low-resource language challenges is a bonus • Experience building in high-risk agent environments like finance is a bonus • Fluent in English; bilingual French is a bonus • Candidates must be based in one of Wave's talent hub countries or operating markets listed in the posting
