They offer personalized, ongoing care delivered by a care team (registered dietitians, certified health coaches, and care coordinators), advanced lab testing, programs for stress, sleep and movement, and unlimited messaging/1:1 coaching. WellTheory serves both individuals and employers/health plans — offering members reduced symptoms through diet and lifestyle changes and providing employers tools like claims analysis and outcomes reports to lower specialty medication spend.

📋 Description

• Build WellTheory’s research function from scratch • Design and run observational studies on member data, including matched cohorts, pre/post analyses, propensity-scored comparisons, and interrupted time series • Analyze medical and pharmacy claims, including utilization, biologic and biosimilar trends, and cost of care • Write statistical analysis plans and perform hands-on analysis in Python, R, or SQL, partnering with the data team for scale • Publish as first or senior author in relevant peer-reviewed journals • Present at meetings such as ACR, DDW, AAD, and AMCP • Lead external collaborations with health plans, employers, and academic partners as principal investigator • Develop protocols and submit studies for IRB review • Manage regulatory requirements for studies • Translate findings into updated care protocols and a more personalized member experience • Shape structured data capture for symptoms, adherence, biomarkers, and PROs • Define autoimmune population and cohort logic • Create white papers and one-pagers for commercial and partnership teams • Serve as WellTheory’s scientific voice in health plan clinical reviews and payer conversations

🎯 Requirements

• PhD or equivalent research doctorate in epidemiology, health services research, outcomes research, biostatistics, public health, nutrition science, or a related field • Exceptional MS/MPH candidates with deep industry experience and a strong publication record are welcome • Experience applying real-world evidence methods, including propensity score matching, difference-in-differences, and interrupted time series, to claims data such as MarketScan, Optum, or HealthVerity • Industry experience in digital health, a payer, or life sciences, or a clear track record of applied, decision-oriented research • Fluency in Python, R, or SQL • Pragmatic understanding of when to use an RCT and when to use other evidence approaches • Familiarity with commercial use of evidence, including employer RFPs and health plan clinical reviews • Ability to work as the sole domain expert across clinical, product, and data teams • Current work authorization in the United States • Experience in autoimmune disease, rheumatology, dermatology, GI, or endocrinology • Familiarity with nutrition and lifestyle interventions as clinical care • Experience at an early- or growth-stage digital health company • Prior experience building a research or evidence function from scratch • Existing relationships with key opinion leaders in autoimmune care
