⢠Manage high-exposure, multifaceted casualty and liability insurance claims ⢠Determine coverage and assess liability across multiple lines of business ⢠Establish and adjust claim reserves ⢠Thoroughly investigate coverage, liability, legal climate, potential exposure, damages, and all involved parties ⢠Evaluate physical damage to property, automobiles, and injuries using inspections and appropriate tools ⢠Obtain documentation supporting claim evaluations ⢠Recognize claim-file exposures and escalate appropriately ⢠Complete reports documenting claim status ⢠Engage independent adjusters, cause-and-origin experts, independent medical examiners, reconstructionists, engineers, and other experts as needed ⢠Handle claim files through various phases of litigation ⢠Review coverage, civil law, and local statutes ⢠Attend mandatory and court-ordered mediation, pre-trial, and trial events ⢠Monitor legislation, court decisions, trends, and claims experience ⢠Advise Claims Management on impacts to claims policies and procedures ⢠Participate in or lead special projects and mentor others as needed ⢠Communicate with parties having legal or contractual interest in claims ⢠Draft clear and concise letters and correspondence ⢠Secure financial claims processing and information in claims files ⢠Confer with policyholders regarding coverage and resolution issues ⢠Prepare claims for trial and comply with trial alert procedures ⢠Notify or update reinsurance when appropriate ⢠Participate in training programs, conferences, and meetings ⢠Perform other duties assigned by management
⢠Residency in Ohio or Indiana ⢠College degree or equivalent experience ⢠At least 3 years as a Senior Claim Representative or equivalent experience preferred ⢠Experience analyzing, adjusting, and settling litigated claims under Homeowners, Personal Auto, Business Auto, Commercial General Liability, Businessowners, and Farm policies ⢠Advanced skills in coverage analysis, litigation management, legal and medical document review, and negotiation ⢠Excellent written and verbal communication skills ⢠Excellent interpersonal skills ⢠Superior organizational skills ⢠Efficient time management skills ⢠Effective negotiation skills ⢠Ability to apply sound judgment, claims training, and experience to evaluate and analyze claims ⢠IIA, AIC, or CPCU highly preferred ⢠Ability to use personal computer and telephone systems ⢠Ability to attend mediation, pre-trial, and trial events ⢠Ability to travel from time to time ⢠May be required to be on-call on a limited basis for after-hours emergencies
