📋 Description

• Serve as a Fire Safety subject matter expert for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) • Oversee safety analyses for project-level reports, including hazard mitigation analysis (HMA) • Review UL 9540a reports from cell and module through unit/installation level and provide direction • Guide fire safety system designs for BESS manufacturers and projects • Build relationships with national, state, and local fire institutions and first responders, including Fire Marshalls, Fire Departments, and educational institutions • Standardize BESS fire safety system information throughout the organization and across project regions • Participate in task groups and technical committees advancing industry codes and standards for battery energy storage system safety • Perform or oversee FMEA, heat flux analysis, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations

🎯 Requirements

• Background in fire protection engineering principles, fire dynamics, and battery technology safety • Experience with NFPA 855 (Energy Storage Systems), IFC, and UL standards • Experience with FMEA • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling • Experience with risk assessment methodologies • Ability to meet applicable United States and comparable export control requirements
