📋 Description

• Evaluate design aspects of major components for utility-scale energy storage projects • Prepare technical scopes of work for thermal management studies and designs for incorporation into contract documents • Support projects from conception through commissioning, including on-site commissioning activities • Provide engineering guidance to project teams and oversee external Engineers of Record • Collaborate with suppliers on equipment sizing, controls, technology compatibility, and integration • Partner with multi-disciplined teams on problem solving, system integration, and process improvement • Identify value engineering opportunities and track emerging technologies

🎯 Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program • 5+ years of engineering experience • Subject matter expertise in thermal management for energy storage systems, including one or more of: hydronic HVAC, air-cooled HVAC, battery heat generation/dissipation, or BESS design • Hands-on experience with VRF, hydronic, and air-side HVAC systems • Knowledge of energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters • Familiarity with relevant safety standards: UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable IFC/IBC sections
