• Perform detailed plan reviews for compliance with the New York State Building Code and applicable local regulations. • Review architectural, structural, fire and life-safety, accessibility, and egress components of construction documents. • Evaluate plans for consistency with zoning requirements and applicable amendments. • Provide clear, accurate, and defensible code interpretations and written review comments. • Coordinate professionally with design professionals, municipal officials, and internal staff. • Maintain accurate, organized, and timely documentation of plan reviews and decisions. • Assist applicants in understanding code requirements and resolving compliance issues. • Support municipal operations through consistent application of codes and policies.

🎯 Requirements

• New York State Department of State Code Enforcement Certification (required). • ICC Plans Examiner Certification (Building preferred; additional certifications a plus). • Demonstrated experience in municipal or third-party plan review. • Strong working knowledge of New York State code amendments and local regulations. • Excellent written communication skills and sound professional judgment. • Thorough understanding of the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and local zoning laws. • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, specifications, and technical documents. • Strong ability to communicate effectively with the public, design professionals, and government agencies. • Experience with permit tracking systems, digital plan review tools, and standard office software. • Ability to enforce regulations with consistency, tact, and impartiality.
