📋 Description

• Lead development and implementation of enterprise-wide initiatives for landfill liquids management and treatment • Establish, enhance, and oversee policies, procedures, systems, and best practices for management, treatment, and disposal of landfill-derived liquids • Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and industry developments and translate insights into strategic and operational plans • Provide technical leadership for complex projects and develop innovative treatment solutions • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts on technology research and development • Plan, direct, and coordinate internal and external staff involved in environmental solutions • Establish policy, procedures, training, and guidance for engineering and environmental compliance • Treat contaminant-laden semi-liquid, liquid, and gaseous waste using biological, chemical, and separation technologies • Provide leadership and technical support in permitting, design, construction, and acquisition due diligence for leachate treatment facilities • Use flow and mass balances to troubleshoot and improve leachate treatment facility performance and permit compliance • Direct development initiatives for leachate and groundwater treatment technology • Serve as a technical resource for Engineering Science, Wastewater Treatment Technology, Bioremediation, and Environmental Compliance • Balance enterprise financial goals with regulations and environmental solutions • Develop internal environmental management policies, procedures, and practices • Conduct independent research on environmental problems to improve liquids management and treatment • Track federal and state regulatory developments, with a focus on state-level agendas • Confer with local and state regulatory agencies regarding environmental standards and wastewater treatment developments • Direct outside consultants and research scientists addressing new technologies and environmental challenges • Travel 25–30% as needed based on projects

🎯 Requirements

• Must live and work in the US • Bachelor of Science Degree, including Engineering, Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry or similar area of study • At least 10 years of overall experience • 7+ years of industrial wastewater treatment design and operations • Specific experience in environmental engineering and environmental solutions specializing in handling, treatment, and disposal of landfill liquids • Wastewater treatment process modeling of biological and physical/chemical unit operations and/or systems using flow and mass balance calculations • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, and advanced statistical/data analysis software • Ability to articulate clearly, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner to employees and multidisciplinary internal and external technical experts • Certifications and/or PE license preferred but not required • Master's Degree of Science and 10+ years of industrial wastewater treatment design and operations experience preferred • 3+ years of management responsibility preferred • Ability to establish and support a safety culture
