• Develop, implement, and evaluate image reconstruction methods for wave-based tomography, including photoacoustic and ultrasound computed tomography • Apply information theory and signal detection theory to assess image quality and improve imaging systems and reconstruction algorithms • Design and conduct computational studies • Analyze simulated and experimental data • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams • Prepare manuscripts and technical reports • Contribute to grant proposals and grant preparation/reporting • Mentor students and trainees • Design research protocols and procedures for data collection, verification, and management • Perform complex statistical analysis and write interpretative reports • Verify data correctness and make recommendations based on analyses • Document research topics and prepare papers for publication or presentation • Solve equipment or test-subject problems and suggest technical or procedural improvements • Conduct literature searches related to research projects • Perform other duties as assigned
• Master’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education • 3 years of laboratory operations experience • PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with relevant post-doctoral research experience (preferred) • Scientific computer programming (preferred) • Advanced knowledge of applied mathematics, physics, and information theory (preferred) • Ability to work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards • Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals • No specific certification/professional license required • Driver’s license not required
