📋 Description

• Act as the first line of defense for critical SQL Server Agent alerts, severity errors, and urgent customer calls • Execute scheduled maintenance windows, including applying Cumulative Updates (CUs), managing index/statistics rebuilds, running DBCC CHECKDB, and deploying schema changes • Work through the ticket backlog and handle handoffs from the weekday DBA team • Monitor long-running migrations • Connect to multiple clients and conduct live screen-share sessions • Troubleshoot SQL Server issues while keeping customers informed • Manage time proactively and communicate in team channels throughout the shift • Record ticket and timesheet entries accurately for client billing • Provide weekend coverage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday according to the stated schedule

🎯 Requirements

• 2–5 years working as a production support SQL Server DBA • Hands-on experience administering SQL Server 2012 through 2025 • Knowledge of instance-level best practices, including MAXDOP, cost threshold, and max server memory • Knowledge of SQL Server security protocols • Ability to write T-SQL from scratch and read execution plans • Ability to identify parameter sniffing, resolve deadlocks, and rewrite poorly performing queries, stored procedures, and triggers • Understanding of native backups, point-in-time restores, database file management, and instance patching • Practical experience building, troubleshooting, and failing over Always On Availability Groups (AGs) and Windows Server Failover Clusters (WSFC) • Familiarity with deploying, executing, and troubleshooting SSIS packages • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • High school diploma or equivalent required • Comfortable working a 13-hour weekend shift • Demonstrated knowledge and skills typically acquired through an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or through relevant professional experience • Experience migrating or managing SQL Server workloads in AWS RDS/EC2 or Azure SQL/Managed Instance • Active Microsoft Certifications, such as Azure Data Fundamentals or Azure Database Administrator Associate • Experience configuring and deploying SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) • Background in technical support or call center support
