• Contribute to YLC's ongoing and emerging advocacy projects based on interests and strengths • Develop at least one strong writing sample for future job and funding applications • Participate in the annual summer seminar series on child welfare, juvenile justice, youth advocacy, public interest law, and systemic issues • Participate in YLC team meetings, strategic advocacy meetings, and relevant workgroups • Complete one or more substantial research and writing projects • Receive supervision and feedback from one or more YLC attorneys • Engage with YLC staff regarding career interests and opportunities • Potentially observe legislative hearings and visit juvenile facilities • Participate in YLC and other summer intern events

🎯 Requirements

• Current 1L or 2L law student • Excellent research and writing skills • Ability to stay directed and focused in a fully remote work environment • Experience and/or interest in child and youth advocacy • Interest in exploring nonprofit legal aid and systemic advocacy as a career path • Legal writing sample required • Resume with three professional/academic references required • Cover letter required • Ability to work a set schedule from 9am–5pm in the local time zone and be fully available during those hours • Must be available for a full-time, 37.5-hour-per-week, 10-week internship • Law school transcripts are not required
