Is Remote Rocketship Legit?
An honest answer from the founder
If you found this page, you probably googled something like "is Remote Rocketship legit" before pulling out your credit card. Good, you should do that before paying for any job board. The internet is full of sketchy job sites, and a healthy dose of skepticism is exactly the instinct that keeps you away from actual scams.
I'm Lior Neu-ner, the founder of Remote Rocketship, and I'd rather you get the answer from me than from an anonymous review site (many of which, you'll notice, are run by our competitors and end with a link to their own product).
So here's the honest version: what we are, how we make money, what our critics get right, and how to get a refund if we're not for you.
The short answer
Yes, Remote Rocketship is a real, legitimate business. It's a paid remote job search engine that I started building in 2023 after watching my wife struggle through a miserable remote job search. Today it lists over 100,000 remote jobs, adds tens of thousands of new ones every week, and is used by thousands of paying subscribers. You can read our reviews on Trustpilot, including the negative ones, which I reply to personally.
It is also, deliberately, a paid product, and that's where most of the "is this a scam?" confusion comes from. So let me explain exactly how it works.
Who is behind Remote Rocketship?
Just me, plus a small team of freelancers. I'm a software engineer, and I spent 5 years at Meta before quitting to build my own products. I launched Remote Rocketship in January 2023 with a post on Reddit, and I've documented the journey publicly ever since: revenue numbers, failed pricing experiments, technical deep dives, all of it. If you want to verify I'm a real person who has been building this in public for years, it's all a Google search away.
I mention this because "who runs this site?" is a fair test for any job board. There's no anonymous shell company here. If something goes wrong with your account, the person reading your support email is often me.
That's me. If you email support, there's a good chance I'm the one replying.
Where do the jobs come from?
This is the most important thing to understand about Remote Rocketship, because it's both our biggest strength and the source of our most common complaint.
We don't wait for employers to pay us to post jobs. Instead, our software continuously scans the career pages and applicant tracking systems of over 100,000 company websites and indexes the remote jobs it finds, including thousands of jobs that were never posted to LinkedIn or other big job boards. Right now, roughly a third of the jobs on our site can't be found on LinkedIn at all.

Why does this matter? Because the biggest problem in remote job searching is competition. A remote job posted on LinkedIn gets hundreds or thousands of applicants within days. A job that's only on the company's own career page gets a fraction of that. Finding jobs early, before they're saturated, is the single biggest edge you can have, and it's the entire reason this product exists.
Applying early means competing with a handful of applicants instead of hundreds.
When you apply to a job through Remote Rocketship, you apply directly on the employer's own website. We never sit between you and the employer, and we never sell your data to recruiters.
"But I clicked a job and it was already closed"
This is the most common genuine criticism of Remote Rocketship, and I want to address it head-on rather than pretend it doesn't happen.
Remote jobs close fast, often within days, sometimes within hours. Because we index jobs directly from employer sites, there's an unavoidable window between a company closing a role and our system detecting that it's gone. We re-scan continuously and remove dead listings every day, but if you use the site for long enough, you will occasionally click into a job that closed since our last scan. Every job board has this problem; ours is more visible because freshness is literally what we sell.
Two honest things I'll say about it: first, we keep investing in faster dead-listing detection, because stale jobs hurt us more than anyone. Second, if expired listings meaningfully hurt your experience, email us at [email protected]. We take it seriously, and we'd rather refund you than have you feel cheated.
Why is it paid? Why can't I browse for free?
You can browse the first 19 results of any search for free, without an account. Beyond that, you need a subscription.
Here's the reasoning. Most job boards are free for job seekers because employers pay to post, which means those boards work for employers, and their incentive is to show you whatever they were paid to show you. We flipped that: no employer pays us to list jobs, there are no ads, and no recruiter spam. You are the customer, so the product is built for you. The subscription is what pays for scanning 100,000+ company websites around the clock.
Is a paid job board worth it for everyone? Honestly, no. If you're casually browsing, the free sites are fine. Remote Rocketship is built for people in an active job search, where being one of the first ten applicants instead of applicant #900 is worth more than the price of a few coffees.
How do I cancel? (And will you make it hard?)
You can cancel any time, yourself, from your account page. It takes a couple of clicks and no phone calls, chat queues, or "retention specialists." Your access continues until the end of the period you paid for.
If you forgot to cancel and got charged for a renewal you didn't want, email [email protected]. A human reads every message, and we resolve billing issues quickly, including refunds. I'm well aware that surprise renewals are the #1 complaint against every paid job site out there, and I have no interest in funding this business with charges people didn't mean to make.
What do real users say?
Our Trustpilot profile is public, unfiltered, and includes our critics. The pattern you'll see: people who are actively job hunting and use the filters and alerts tend to love it. The most common story is some version of "more interviews from fewer applications, because I found jobs before everyone else did." People who expected that paying automatically leads to a job, or who hit an expired listing early on, tend to be the unhappy ones.
One thing I'll state plainly, because some review sites imply otherwise: no job board, free or paid, us included, can guarantee you a job. Anyone who promises that is scamming you. What we can do is show you more remote jobs, sooner, with less noise.
The bottom line
Remote Rocketship is a legitimate, founder-run business with a simple trade: you pay a subscription, and in return you get the freshest and widest index of remote jobs we can build, with no ads, no recruiter spam, and no employer pay-to-play. It's not magic, it won't apply for you or guarantee an offer, and occasionally a job will have closed before you clicked it.
