📋 Description

• Plan and prioritize projects based on product, technical, and business goals using data-driven decision making • Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data models for communications, experimentation, and personalization • Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Analysts on customer acquisition and engagement strategies • Establish and uphold engineering best practices for secure, observable, and performant services • Mentor and support junior engineers • Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues when needed, and support keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts • Build services that improve customer acquisition, engagement, and adoption of Affirm products

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer focused on backend systems • Strong understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture • Proven track record delivering complex backend systems in production • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in asynchronous communication, including design docs, technical specs, and project plans • Ability to collaborate across Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Design teams • Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or similar languages • Experience with AWS or other major cloud providers • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience • Experience with experimentation platforms, including A/B testing frameworks and feature flagging systems • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and stream processing tools such as Kafka and Kinesis • Exposure to large-scale personalization, recommendation, or messaging systems • Ability to support artifact operations and availability through metrics, escalation, and on-call efforts • Must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan
