📋 Description

• Build scalable systems and data pipelines to power consumer credit reporting for Affirm • Partner closely with Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems • Deliver accurate and timely data from Affirm’s financial product portfolio to Consumer Reporting Agencies • Own and deliver strategic outcomes: define and deliver quarterly and long-term goals and guide team through ambiguity • Shape architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams to ensure scalable, extensible solutions • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics, and design; anticipate risks and articulate trade-offs • Champion operational excellence by establishing monitoring, alerting, and recovery practices to ensure high availability • Mentor and grow talent through code/design reviews and technical leadership • Scale impact beyond the team by authoring technical proposals, documentation, and tech talks • Participate in on-call rotation as a requirement

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed backend systems • Strong proficiency in languages like Kotlin (or Python as a plus) • Proven experience building high-volume, highly available systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes (Airflow, Spark as a plus) • Experience defining technical strategies and architectural leadership for complex, cross-team initiatives • Skilled at building resilient systems with monitoring, alerting, and safe deployment practices • History of mentoring engineers and shaping best practices beyond immediate team • Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in asynchronous communication (tech specs, wiki, project plans) • High degree of organization and project management skills • Comfortable driving significant changes in large, complex codebases • Ability to navigate ambiguity and provide technical leadership • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation • Must be based in Spain; visa sponsorship available
